Track Laying Works Begin for Package A for Stage 2 of Etihad Rail

The Package A for Stage 2 of Etihad Rail project constructed by CSCEC ME has reached the milestone of the commencement of track laying on time. The client Etihad Rail launched ceremony of the Etihad Rail track-laying work recently.

The event was attended by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the ruler’s representative for Al Dhafra. He was accompanied by HE Suhail Mohamed Faraj Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy, HE Falah Mohammed Falah Al Ahbabi, Chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport and an Etihad Rail board member as well as senior executives from the railway, including CEO, Mr. Shadi Malak. In addition, Mr. John Jarman, PD from Consultant Company Jacobs and Mr. Wei Chuanhai, President Assistance of CSCEC ME attended the track-laying inauguration ceremony as well.

The Etihad Rail network is being built in stages. Stage One has been fully operational since January 2016. The 140-kilometer Package A project is the first awarded project of Stage Two to connect Ruwais with Ghuweifat on the UAE border with Saudi Arabia.

Upon completion, the Etihad Rail will link the principal centers of trade, industry, manufacturing, production, logistics, population and all the major import and export points of the United Arab Emirates as well as form an integral part of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) railway network.
