Civil & Infrastructure Division of CSCEC ME obtaineded the Letter of Acceptance from Dubai Road &Transport Authority (RTA) to be the Main Contractor for PROJECT R921/1B: Improvements of Al Wasl Road – Phase 1B Interchange 2.5. The total contract value is AED 4800 Million, which is equivalent to US Dollars 132 Million, and contract duration is 900 days. The commencement date starts on 11th October 2015.
The proposed Interchange (IC) 2.5 is located on the segment of Sheikh Zayed Road between Interchange 2 and Interchange 3. This project is about to provide free flow connection of Al Wasl Road/Jumeira Road traffic to Al Khail Road.
There are 5 bridges namely Bridge Main-SN-1, Main-NS-1, Bridge RMPES, RMPSW2-2, RMPWN crossing the existing Sheikh Zayed Road. In between, 2 Nos of bridges (Main-SN-1 & Main-NS-1) will fly over the exiting Dubai Metro, and 1 bridge (RMPES) will cross beneath existing Dubai Metro.
The project also includes the construction of grade road, bridges (3.7km), roadways signage and pavement marking, street lighting, storm drainage, sewerage and irrigation, diversion and/or protection of existing services and other new services. It is a challengeable project that requires high standard requirements of interface, quality, safety and health management.
Interchange 2.5 is the 7th project which awarded by the client RTA, and it is also the 2nd project of RTA awarded to CSCEC ME followed by the project of Dubai Parks Access from Sheikh Zayed Road within this year.
